30th May 2025
Dear Aloysians,
Commencement of Preparation for
the St. Louis School Centennial Celebrations
St. Louis School will celebrate its Centennial (100th Anniversary) during the 2027 school year and continue through the summer of 2028. Our first project to prepare for this celebration is to restore the appearance of our original school entrance at 179 Third Street (the original entrance at the street corner of Kwong Fung Lane and the Third Street). The Block A entrance, built in 1936, is listed as a Grade II historic building by the Antiquities and Monuments Office of Hong Kong
Currently, the original design and finishes of the entrance, hallway, and marble pillars have been obscured by modifications such as false ceilings, repaints, and new constructions. By restoring the entrance to its original Italian design, we will showcase the rich history of the St. Louis School, which spans over a century, while highlighting the culture and legacy built by Aloysians throughout the years. The historic design will also allow improved coherence visually with the building overall.
Additionally, we aim to use the opportunity of the Centennial to launch several other campus improvement projects with financial support from Old Boys. These projects include transforming the Multimedia Language Lab (MMLL) into a multifunctional space, increasing its capacity to accommodate over 300 people. Furthermore, this enhancement will improve accessibility on campus and provide an alternative to our current school hall.
We need your support to make these projects a reality. Although we are a government-subsidized school, current government funding does not cover the restoration of our school entrance or the modifications to the MMLL. We cannot initiate these projects without your generous donations. To provide a clearer understanding, here is the budget and timeline:

Note: Items 2 and 3 will commence only if sufficient support is secured for the school entrance project.
*Current concepts include IAC upgrades and other campus equipment enhancements not covered by government subsidies.
